599 - HOLLYWOOD GOES TO WAR, 1x180m sepia tone b/w - A - £34.99 This carries the story of Hollywood into the war years, starting with Korea. We return to the First and Second World Wars to see the stars entertaining in battledress and how Hollywood adapted to the threat of war with barrage balloons on Sunset Boulevard and gun emplacements hidden under tennis courts. Again, the stars featured are too numerous to name individually, but highlights include Carole Lombard hours before her fatal plane crash, Bob Hope in various overseas locations, Marlene Dietrich singing in liberated Paris and Judy Garland singing Somewhere Over The Rainbow in front of the radio microphone. This reel also contains the original commercial breaks and a trailer for the following week’s title Anatomy of a Mobile, a documentary set on the shooting of Otto Preminger’s The Cardinal. 027- RAILWAY OF THE RHEIDOL VALLEY- 1x400’ - A - £45.00. This railway is one of the Great Little Trains of Wales and the approximate 19 kilometre journey between Aberystwyth and Devil's Bridge takes approximately one hour in each direction as the train overcomes a height difference of over 180m affording superb views of the Rheidol Valley. With his wife pregnant their money tight, he plans a theft which backfires and he is killed. However he is given a chance to redeem himself by the kindly star-keeper and his spirit returns to earth in order to help his now grown up, but troubled daughter.
