016- GENEVIEVE- 1x600’ A/B £28.00. 1953. Classic English comedy which was nominated for two Oscars. Original Derann box

017- HOLLYWOOD GOES TO WAR- 1x600’ sepia tone b/w A £35.00. This carries the story of Hollywood into the war years, starting with Korea. We return to the First and Second World Wars to see the stars entertaining in battledress and how Hollywood adapted to the threat of war with barrage balloons on Sunset Boulevard and gun emplacements hidden under tennis courts. Again, the stars featured are too numerous to name individually, but highlights include Carole Lombard hours before her fatal plane crash, Bob Hope in various overseas locations, Marlene Dietrich singing in liberated Paris and Judy Garland singing Somewhere Over The Rainbow in front of the radio microphone. This reel also contains the original commercial breaks and a trailer for the following week’s title Anatomy Of A Mobile, a documentary set on the shooting of Otto Preminger’s The Cardinal. The fast moving fully fitted freight train, the 4.48 pm Bristol to Leeds, provides a typical example of merchandise being transported at high speed by British Railways.
